5 Signs You Need to Call a Plumber for Your Southwest Florida home

5 Signs You Need to Call a Plumber for Your Southwest Florida home

More than 1 in 10 adults needed a plumber at least once last year. Does this sound like you?

You may be experiencing a clogged drain, a broken pipe, or a leaking toilet. Either way, it's time for you to call a plumber to take care of the problem for you.

But how do you know what plumbing problems require a professional with your Southwest Florida home? You may think you can take care of issues on your own, but DIY repairs may wind up causing more harm than good.

Read on to learn a few common signs that you need to hire a pro.

1. You Have Comically Low Water Pressure

Water pressure is one of those things that you can't really fix on your own. An occasional instance of poor water pressure is a fluke, but if your water pressure has been so low that taking a shower has felt like sitting under a dripping faucet, it's time to hire a pro.

This isn't a plumbing emergency, but it's a problem that isn't going to fix itself. A professional plumber can make quick work of it so you can take comfortable and relaxing showers again.

2. Your Pipes Have Burst

This is a more obvious problem. Burst pipes are a definite plumbing emergency. If you don't take care of them, you can end up with serious water damage.

Burst pipes happen when your pipes freeze. It's one of the more preventable plumbing problems, but it's not one that you can repair on your own.

3. Your Toilet Is Consistently Overflowing

If your toilet overflows once due to a careless clog, you may not need to hire a plumber right away. If, however, you know that there's no obvious clog and the toilet continues to overflow despite your best plunging efforts, it's time to hire a professional.

There might be a clog deep in the pipes that you can't reach, there may be something wrong with the float in the tank, or there might be a blocked vent pipe. Regardless of the cause, a professional plumber will be able to fix it before your overflowing toilet damages your floors.

4. You Notice Signs of Leaks or Water Damage

It's possible that you won't catch leaks as they're happening. If you're not paying close attention, they can go unnoticed. You can, however, find signs of leaks and water damage.

Do you see dark marks on your ceilings? Is there mildew or mold growing in your bathroom cabinet or near your toilet? Even if you don't see any sitting water, it's possible that you have a leak.

Call a plumber to take a look before you have more damage on your hands.

5. Your Drains Are Slow

So you're trying to drain the sink after you wash the dishes, but the water is taking forever to go away. You reach into the drain to make sure that there's no stray food clogging it up, but there's nothing there. What gives?

A slow drain indicates that there's something clogging the drain somewhere, even if you can't reach it. Instead of pulling out a drain snake to "fix" the problem, let a pro handle it.

Is It Time to Call a Plumber?

If these signs seem familiar, it's time to call a plumber to take care of your problem. Don't let your plumbing problem turn into a serious catastrophe! Let a pro take care of it.
